Custom Chevy Camaro to be featured in DreamWorks Animation's "Turbo"

DETROIT- A custom Chevrolet Camaro will be featured in an upcoming DreamWorks Animation film called “Turbo,” according to General Motors Co.

The animated vehicle, which the Detroit-based automaker featured a real-life replica (pictured above) of at numerous auto shows this year, is part of a new collaboration between Chevrolet and DreamWorks Animation. The partnership, according to GM, will “engage fans in the U.S. and select international markets and serve to enhance the film’s authentic racing environment.”

Chevrolet designers consulted with DreamWorks on the animated versions of the Camaro and the Chevrolet-powered Indy cars that appear in the film, which premiers in the U.S. on July 17.

The film, according to DreamWorks' wenbsite, is a "high-velocity 3D comedy about an underdog snail (named Turbo) who "kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. But after making fast friends with a crew of streetwise, tricked-out es-car-goes, Turbo learns that no one succeeds on their own."

Chevrolet plays an integral part in two of the film’s key moments. Turbo receives his speed after an encounter with a Chevrolet Camaro and later, the Chevrolet “bowtie” logo features prominently in scenes set at the Indianapolis 500. Mirroring the film, the Chevrolet logo will be featured prominently at the race this weekend.

“Turbo is one of the most anticipated films of the summer, and we couldn’t be more excited about this collaboration, which aligns perfectly with Chevrolet’s renewed presence in INDYCAR,” said Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer, Chevrolet, in a statement. “Millions of future drivers will be inspired by Turbo to realize their dreams both big and small.”

Chevrolet will also feature Turbo in advertising leading up to the release. The ads will wrap the movie’s theme of realizing dreams around Chevrolet’s “Find New Roads” brand platform.

"Turbo" marks the first time DreamWorks Animation has partnered with brands in this way.

Our salesman Gus was a great! I brought in my copy from the Internet of the Chevy Spark we were interested in he & the financial department worked very hard to help us get the loan we could afford & the color of car I wanted. Gus explained the instrument panel, what to expect from On Star, I had never used this service, & point out to us that our instruction manual held all the answers to any questions we might have regarding use of the car boy was he right! He was a real delight to associate with. He took extra care in speaking up as my husband is hard of hearing due to Nerve deafness. My husband has arthritis Gus ambled along at my husbands speed while taking us to the car we would test drive. He prepared us for the final segment of our loan by showing us the difference between coating our car for long lasting durability & what the color of the car would look like without it. I have recommended him to several of my friends as the man to see during this great sale! I'm so glad I could drive a Fiat 500 as a loaner car while the Chevy was being rust proofed. Originally my husband wanted to buy one but the Chevy runs rings around the Fiat in ease of driving mobility, having all the knobs within easy reach like the radio, & cup holders easy to get to. The Chevy out maneuvers the Fiat hands down! Plus the seats are super both my husband & I have arthritic backs the support of the seats is great! If you are looking for a fuel efficient car Bob Brown & Gus are the people to see!

Chevy engineer squeezes 900 miles from one tank in 2014 Cruze Diesel

Tessa Baughman didn't exactly set any speed records on a recent visit to her Arkansas family from Michigan, unless you factor in the time saved on not filling up a few times.

The energy engineer for the Chevy Cruze Diesel, interviewed in a short General Motors video said she was able to go 900 miles on a single tank during the first leg of the drive. The catch is that she drove "five below speed limit" the whole way down, but she certainly more than backed up the EPA's Cruze Diesel fuel-economy rating of 46 miles per gallon, the best of any non-hybrid vehicle. Heck, that's a well-north-of-50 mpg pace for the model, which comes equipped with low rolling-resistance tires, a six-speed automatic transmission, tire deflectors and other fuel-saving features.

Baughman went at a slightly brisker pace on the way back, i.e. with the flow of traffic, but was still able to wring 800 miles between fill-ups. We're guessing there were no speeding tickets involved, either.
